But WHY a crossbolt safety?!?
1. As a right-handed shooter on deployments to Afghanistan, Joe’s Mk18 would frequently shift to “fire” just from rubbing against his kit during offset infills. A push-button safety virtually eliminates that risk—no accidental toggling, no surprises.
2. Joe was in a Ranger weapons squad and grew to prefer the machine gun style selector over the AR-15 style. A crossbolt selector makes more sense when there’s only two selections or only one mode of fire.
3. He prefers to have the FA selector separate. (Similar to the STG44.)
4. The standard AR-15 selector is not ambidextrous. A crossbolt selector is.
It’s proprietary. Not a screw build in the AKM sense.
